The Gatehouse Tearooms
The Gatehouse Tearooms is the perfect place to visit with friends or family in the heart of D.H Lawrence countryside. Located in a medieval gatehouse which once protected the monks that lived in the nearby priory, it retains much of the ancient atmosphere with a large fireplace, open beams and plenty of old world charm.
We offer a range of homemade soups, locally inspired lunches and snacks as well as a delicious selection of homemade cakes, scones and other treats. Whether you like an English Breakfast tea or a cappuccino with chocolate sprinklings, we are sure you will be delighted with our warm drinks. Our afternoon teas are also a customer favourite, they include sandwiches, cakes, scones and tea and are great to share. We can accommodate groups for all occasions and special dietary requirements can be catered for upon request.

The tearooms has plenty of outdoor seating to take in the delightful country views and has many country walks within reach. Dogs are very welcome but must be kept on leads at all times and any mess picked up. Maps of local walks are coming soon.
Tours of the site and the history of the priory can be booked for groups of 8 or more for a donation of £1 per person towards the on going consolidation of the ruins.
